Tour 3: Royal Botanic Gardens, National Herbarium and Arts Centre Melbourne

10.30 am – 12 noon, National Herbarium of Victoria

The morning starts with a tram trip and a stroll to the National Herbarium of Victoria in the Royal Botanic Gardens where you will be treated to a tour of the Herbarium specimen collection and library and a display of items from the State Botanical Collection including significant artwork, books and herbarium specimens. Our focus during the tour will be digitisation for global accessibility: the challenges and achievements to date.

12.00 – 1.00 pm Enjoy lunch in the Royal Botanic Gardens (at own expense) 

1.30 Stroll or catch a tram with your Museum Victoria guide to the Arts Centre Melbourne.

2.00 – 3.30 pm Arts Centre Melbourne

Go behind-the-scenes at Australia’s largest performing arts centre and the home of world-class music, dance, theatre and opera companies. See a selection of significant works of Australian art, wander through vast underground theatres and see highlights from the immense Performing Arts Collection.

The day will conclude at Arts Centre Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Road, Melbourne at 3:30pm

Since many of the locations can be easily reached on foot, participants are advised to wear walking shoes.
